What is Inner Relationship Focusing?
Most of us relate to our inner life the way our harshest critic would — pushing, judging, overriding. Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF), developed by Ann Weiser Cornell, teaches a radically different stance: turning toward what you feel with curiosity and compassion instead of force.
In sessions, we make room for the parts of you that carry rigid "shoulds," self-criticism, and old survival strategies — the inner voices that say work harder, don't need anything, don't let them see. These parts formed for good reasons. When they finally feel heard rather than fought, they can soften, and change stops being a battle.
IRF pairs beautifully with Somatic Experiencing: one works with the nervous system, the other with the inner relationship. Together they create change that lasts.
